sibling groups

Wigwam recognises that siblings of children with special needs can face issues that other children may not.

“Growing up with someone with special needs can be very rewarding and very difficult at the same time. When someone in the family needs a huge amount of help and support, this can have a negative impact on other family members. The biggest issue for child siblings is not getting enough attention from their parents” (www.sibs.org.uk)

Siblings may feel isolated as they are unable to share with friends at school what life is like for them and their families living with their brother or sister. We aim to lessen the feelings of isolation by providing sibling support.

Sibling Fun Events

Siblings of our children with special needs are welcome at all our events. However, we like to do something special just for siblings. Each year we organise a fun event, usually at Oatlands for siblings from the age of 7 to 13.
