Children and Young People Plan

The February Billet was published today containing the final versions of both the Supported Living and Ageing Well Strategy (SLAWS) and the Children and Young People Plan (CYPP) documents in preparation for a States debate that starts on Tuesday 16th February.

The success of the Disability Strategy is very much linked to SLAWS and CYPP. The Disability Strategy itself doesn't include improvements to support and services – instead these are either in SLAWS (for adult services from aged 18 onwards) or CYPP (for children's services).

CYPP is a plan for ALL children and young people in the islands. But within it the States fully acknowledges that children with disabilities can find it difficult to access the services and facilities that their counterparts take for granted. A significant number of the actions in the Plan aim to ensure that children with disabilities are more included in island life.

You can also discuss the Plan or ask any questions you may have on the Wigwam Facebook page.
