Giving.gg

We are delighted to say that we have recently signed up to Giving.gg providing another easy way to donate to Wigwam.

Giving.gg is a service provided to members of the Associations of Guernsey Charities. The website was built by volunteers and the platform is run by volunteer, so that as much as possible of what you donate gets to your chosen charity.

Not only does it provide a route for online donations but it also allows individuals to set up and event page should you wish to raise money for a local charity registered on the website. So if you are thinking of taking part in an event and would like to raise money for Wigwam you can set up your own page online. Please do bear us in mind if you are setting up an event.

London Marathon 2017 Runner Selected

Having secured a charity runner spot for the London Marathon 2017 Wigwam and taking applications for the spot, Wigwam have recently selected a runner to take part.

Fiona Martin is a lecturer at the College of Further Education and is very much looking forward to taking part in the marathon, her first London Marathon and one that she has been attempting to secure a place for a number of years.

We will be sharing information about Fiona's training and fundraising in due course.

Run the London Marathon for Wigwam

As you may have seen in todays Guernsey Press we are delighted to confirm that we have secured a charity place at the 2017 Virgin Money London Marathon and we're welcoming applications from runners who would like to take part.

With 40,000 runners completing the famous course earlier this year it is one of the world’s most popular running events, taking in many of London's famous landmarks along its route.

Our Committee Member Rachel Donaldson explained how the place was secured "we applied for a charity place in the ballot in hope more than expectation. Needless to say we were a little shocked, in a good way, to learn that we'd been allocated a place". Rachel detailed some of the benefits it will bring by "giving us an opportunity to work alongside the runner to raise funds and build the profile of Wigwam. To think that just some of the 250,000 spectators along the route as well as those watching on TV may spot a runner wearing a Wigwam vest is very exciting".

The selected placeholder will be expected to raise a minimum of £1250 for the charity. Support will be given to the runner with a free place at the Lee Merrien Running Club in the lead up to the big day in London on April 23rd 2017.

Anyone who is interested in the place should send a paragraph stating "Why I would like to run the London Marathon for Wigwam" to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. by 31st October. A winner will be selected in early November.

The growing Wigwam Family - new staff

The Wigwam Family has recently grown by two, last week our new Operations Manager Andy Graham started and this week Elizabeth Richards started as our latest Family Support Worker. Both bring with them a wealth of experience, having worked in England for a large UK charity for many years Andy returned home to Guernsey to set up Autism Guernsey in 2012. Having taken charge of the day to day running for three years he left his role in August last year to take a career break learning Portuguese and living in Portugal. His main focus will be on the day to day running of the organisation but he will do some work with families and events.

Elizabeth is a trained Mental Health nurse but has experience in a range of organisations both locally and in the UK. This includes experience with CAMHS and within a variety of nursing roles. Her role is very much a family facing role and she can't wait to meet and work with Wigwam families.

Our Chair Debbie said "we are absolutely delighted they have joined the Wigwam team. They come with a huge amount of experience and skills between them which will be of enormous benefit to Wigwam and the families we support. I am looking forward to working with them over the coming weeks and introducing them to all that is Wigwam!".
